New To Fencing

Taster Session for absolute beginners

If you are not sure if you or your child will be into fencing and you want to try first, by appointment you can come down to the club on one of our evenings and let them try fencing for free for half an hour. They will be shown the very basics of fencing, by doing this you and your child can make a decision to partake in our specially designed beginners sessions and start on the path of a Marshall Fencer. (this is by appointment only and on availability of the coaches)

Beginners courses

Beginners are taught the importance of staying safe whilst having fun and keeping fit. Fencing is a mind game as well as a physical sport and our beginners are taught skills to use your brain to work out a solution to overcome the bigger, stronger, faster opponent. A fencer will soon learn that to remain calm in a situation will always win out.

We have regular monthly introductory courses, please look to the column on the right to see when our next cousre starts.

Marshall Fencing Club offers Fencing for ages 7+, We have designed a very detailed development program that is child focused and includes, games, footwork, skills exercises and the best bit...sparring.

We have two specific days in the week where our beginners are trained, these are a Tuesday evening and a saturday morning. During these sessions beginners are taught our way of competive fencing without the pressure fo fighting with experienced fencers, in fun and game orientated sessions.

If you miss a week completely, you can catch up with a 20 minute private lesson with one of our Coaches: an extra £10 fee applies or book one anyway if you just want to get ahead of the game.

Fenced before?

If you have fenced a bit before but are not sure what level you’re currently at and what class you should be in, the best thing to do is book a private lesson with one of our coaches so we can assess what training options will suit you best. Lessons are £10 per 20 minutes.
